School of Dental Sciences

General information

Newcastle University School of Dental Sciences is one of the largest and best equipped Dental teaching facilities in the country. We occupy a spacious, purpose-built facility, with light and airy clinics and views across adjacent parkland and the vibrant city centre of Newcastle, just five minutes walk away.

The school has a long-established reputation for excellence in teaching, scholarship, research and clinical service, and provides a positive and well resourced environment for work and study.

Our clinical training facilities are second to none and are regularly updated to ensure we provide the most modern facilities for clinical training. The School is in the same building as the Dental Hospital and, together with the adjacent Medical School and Royal Victoria Infirmary teaching hospital, forms one of the largest integrated teaching and hospital complexes in the country.

We have excellent library and computing facilities on-site as well as the wider resources and facilities of the Newcastle University campus.

Within the School, we have a range of research laboratories, undertaking work in Oral Biology, Anthropology and Dental Materials Science, in addition to a dedicated clinical research facility. We are well placed to offer clinical training and research opportunities of the highest international standard. We also foster strong collaboration with research institutes in the adjacent Medical School and University.
