General information

Our great artist videos are designed to kick start an art day in school by recreating the lives of great artists such as Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet and others. They can be shown in an asembly and are a wonderful way to put an Art Day into context. After watching the Great Artist video children will understand who the artist is, his motivations, achievements and life history.

Children will also understand that each of these Great Artists, achieved greatness, not just through exceptional talent, but also by having a great work ethic, never giving up despite, in some cases, extreme hardship and rejection and having great self-belief. These will be the qualities emphasised in the videos as a stimulus and motivator for the children in the creation of their own work and study.
Aspects of the artist’s lives may have been simplified, amended or exaggerated in the videos, to make their stories accessible to young children.
