A Bárka a megmenekülés, a gondoskodás és a fennmaradás szimbóluma.
Az első Bárka közösséget Jean Vanier hívta életre.
A Bárka olyan közösség, amely a legszegényebbek, a legkitaszítottabbak,
az értelmi és halmozottan sérült emberek szolgálatában áll, akik segítőkkel együtt élnek.
A magyarországi Bárka Közösség 1991-ben alakult, Dunaharasztiban.
